Herbal tinctures are used to preserve herbs for medicinal use, and are comprised of alcohol and the herb to be preserved.
Such tinctures preserve herbs longer than just drying them.
Why use herbal tinctures?
Herbalists believe that tinctures made with alcohol are more effective in releasing all the medicinal components from the plant than other methods of using herbs. Herbal tinctures also have a very long shelf life and work great when you want quick absorption.
The dose varies depending on the tincture, but the most common dosage is 1-3 times daily a few drops minimum up to a dropper-full.
(Also note that those who are pregnant, or breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant - please check in with a herbalist or physician to insure the tincture you want to use is safe in such instances).
