This is an ubulawu plant used by the Zulu's.
Ubulawu is a term for plants that cause visionary and prophetic dreams, and allow one to connect with and receive messages from the ancestors and spiritual world.

Botanical description :
It has a huge corky textured underground caudex and masses of yellow fragrant mimosa-like pale yellow flowers in spring before the leaves are fully developed.
